CNRE Summer
Undergraduate Program

The CNRE Summer Undergraduate Program takes place on campus for 10 weeks from the end of May to the beginning of August and will require a commitment of 20-40 hours per week. Students will be paired with a faculty and postdoc mentor, work with leading experts to develop next-generation scientific knowledge, prediction, measurement, and design tools and gain exposure to computational and experimental research with real-life applications. Final presentations will take place during the last week of the research experience.

 

Interested and motivated undergraduate students from all disciplines (e.g. engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, biostatistics, etc.) are encouraged to apply. 

 

Sample projects include (but are not limited to):

• Modeling biofilm growth; complex biofouled surface geometry and hydrodynamic performance

• Machine learning modeling of marine data sets, weather forecasting and design implications

• Elementary acoustic array design, basic array signal processing, modern techniques for acoustic environment identification

• State of the art simulation of complex, multi-physics flows
